It's that easy:

Choose a fireproof container (e.g. our wooden bowl or glass).
Fill it with the wax granules.
Insert a wick (not included, please order separately) into the center of the granules.
Light the wick. The wax will only melt around the flame.

*Tip: After burning, you can simply remove the cooled wax core, refill with granules, and insert a new wick. This way, the candle always looks like new.

Gently melt the wax
Patience is the first step. Never melt our organic wax or wax granules directly in a pot, but always in a water bath. This prevents overheating and discoloration. Use a thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature – wax that is too hot can burn fragrance oils, while wax that is too cold will result in an uneven surface. Stir slowly to avoid air bubbles.

Wick selection & placement
The wick determines how well your candle burns.

Wooden wicks: These provide the crackling campfire feeling. They often require a little more care when lighting and should be trimmed short.

Cotton wicks: The classic choice for a steady, tall flame.
Important: Secure the wick base firmly in the center of the glass before pouring. Use a centering aid (or a clothespin) to prevent the wick from tipping sideways as it cools.

Pour the liquid wax slowly and steadily into the pre-warmed glass (a cold glass can cause cracks, called "wet spots"). Leave about 1-2 cm of space at the top.
Pro tip: Wax contracts as it cools. This can create a small indentation around the wick. Reserve some liquid wax to smooth this indentation with a second, small pour ("top-up") after it has hardened.

Here's the secret that hardly anyone tells you: A candle is like fine wine – it needs to mature. Even if the wax is hard after 24 hours, it takes (depending on the type of wax) about one to two weeks for the fragrance oil molecules to bond firmly with the wax. Lighting it too soon risks a weak scent. Give your masterpiece time.

Hot wax is not a toy. Wear clothes that can get dirty when pouring and protect your work surface. Wax in the drain hardens instantly and clogs pipes – always dispose of leftovers in the trash or wipe them up. Never leave wax unattended on the stove.
